You can plant the clematis in a pot on your terrace or directly in your garden. In fact, this climbing plant adapts perfectly everywhere. Clematis climbs gently on any plant without damaging it, but you can also choose to climb it on specific supports.
If you want to achieve a better result, our suggestion is to combine it with another climbing plant, such as a rose bush.

Each species of this climbing plant needs different conditions, so before you buy one you need to decide where you want to place it. However, as mentioned above, this is a fairly hardy plant, so it won’t give you much of a problem.
A general rule of thumb for this climbing plant that you might find useful is to keep the upper part in the sun and the lower part in the shade. If you want to have a wonderful flowering, you need to keep the roots in cool, moist soil and avoid standing water.

Another tip is to buy a climbing plant that is already two years old and, when choosing, make sure that the roots are in a sufficiently large container.
Each type of clematis requires a different size. For example, evergreen, Alpina or Montana clematis prefer a very light pruning; other species, such as Viticella, Tabgutica or Texensis, require very drastic pruning.
Clematis: cultivation in the ground
Dig a hole at least 50cm deep and 40cm wide.
If you want him to climb a wall, consider digging a hole as far from the wall as possible. Put mature manure and loose soil in the bottom. All you have to do is insert the climbing plant into the hole, tilting it towards the wall of the house and putting at least two or three knots in the ground.
Another important tip is to bury a seedling at the foot of the clematis to give the roots the shade they need.

If you want to grow the creeper in a pot, make sure it is at least 45-50 inches tall. You should also make sure that it is well drained by placing pebbles or expanded clay on the bottom. This will also prevent engorgement. You can choose a universal type of soil, but mix it with a high-dissolving fertilizer.
We hope now that you have discovered clematis and love it as much as we do. Get one for your garden or patio and follow our advice on how to best maintain it. Without too much effort you will have a beautiful climbing plant for a colorful exterior.
