UPDATE – After an article from Parisian, where the daily explained, based on a report from the Court of Auditors, that individuals should finally put their hands in their pockets to reimburse the installation of the Linky meters, Enedis and the government reaffirmed that there is no would have no additional cost. “Consumers will not pay an additional cost due to Linky” assured the Minister Delegate for Ecological Transition Emmanuelle Wargon, questioned at the National Assembly. Enedis also issued a statement to confirm this. For its part, the Energy Regulatory Commission has indicated that the savings made thanks to the Linky meters will make it possible to finance its deployment. The Linky meter is talking about him again and should, once again, electrify many conversations. Contrary to what the public authorities had assured during the deployment of the new electricity meter, now installed in nearly 90% of households, it will not be free. The invoice amount should be 130 € per box, and individuals will have to start repaying it from 2022. In its 2020 annual public report, the Court of Auditors already pointed out “funding provided by users”. If Enedis bears a large part of its cost, 5.39 billion euros out of a total amount of 5.7 billion (10% on its own funds, the rest thanks to a loan), it will be good for the French to pay the note through a “deferred tariff” mechanism which allows the reimbursement to be shifted by passing the sum on to customers’ bills, explains the newspaper The Parisian. From 2022, individuals will therefore have to start putting their hands in their pockets, and several hundred million euros per year should be collected over the next few years. If Enedis ensures that thanks to the little yellow meter, households will be able to save money thanks to better management of their consumption, not sure that they can really benefit from it … Consumer associations are already on the bridge.
